Contemporary British artist Tracey Emin began gaining notoriety after joining the Young British Artist group in the 1990s, creating bold, in-your-face works such as Everyone I Have Ever Slept With 1963-1995 (1995) and My Bed (1999). Her works are largely autobiographical; employing a wide range of media including textiles, film, drawings and neon lights, Emin is able to publicly express her life, thoughts and credences often through the lens of dark humor. In describing her work, Emin states 'the narcissism behind what I do—the self, self, self—and how difficult it is for me to really share things, even though I think I am sharing all the time.'
