When creating Vetiver Extraordinaire, Frédéric Malle perfumer Dominique Ropion sought to modernise the very traditional, masculine scent of vetiver, using a molecular distillation process to eradicate its bitter element - allowing it to be used in greater concentration without becoming overpowering. A burst of bergamot at the top gives way to a vetiver heart, softened with floral lily of the valley and rounding out with a woody, musky base.
