Small parts -- not for children under 3D+'I'm Waraporn Khamsuk and I was born in 1990 in Northern Thailand. I'm the eldest daughter in the family, and I grew up with the wooden games my father crafted. I'd watch him select wood, dry it naturally and assemble to complete a game. They are challenging and fun - something you'll never find in computer games. My father founded our family's game workshop. He created brain teasers, interlocking puzzles and wooden board games. My favorites are the wooden games because I grew up with them. They teach me to think, plan and concentrate, and I apply these skills in my everyday life. Along with the wooden games, we now craft wooden tableware. People appreciate the beauty and the uniqueness of the natural wood pattern.'...

'What attracts me to Rajasthan's crafts is that they can be adapted to various forms and presentations, and they haven't been so much exposed to the outside world. This is how I started my own project. I work directly with craftsmen and market their designs in exhibitions and fairs. Novica Modern Large Ceramic Vase, Blue, 'Mint Drops' (set of 3)

D+ About our Artist: 'I'm Ruben Tamayo and, along with my brother Juan, I make clay figures. Our designs all begin with a person who mixes the clay with his feet. Then, Juan shapes the pieces on the potter's wheel. After about six days to thoroughly dry, the pieces are fired in a closed kiln. Finally, they go to my workshop where I paint each one by hand. Our workshop is still small and we haven't been able to employ as many people as we would like. We're sure we've started down the right path, however, because this work is noble and has improved our lives. It has allowed us to enjoy more family time because some of our relatives collaborate with us. This has helped us keep up the tradition of this work. Because ceramics constantly evolve, we feel that our craft is far from dying out. We hope you and many others become aware of our work and want you to know that our designs are more than clay and colors — each piece has a unique effort, experience and a history behind it.'

Novica Religious And Spiritual Wood Wall Sculpture, Brown, 'Om Bloom'

D+'I was born in 1975 to a wood carver family in a small rural area on the island of Bali. Our family was underprivileged, and I wasn't able to continue my studies after graduating from senior high school. In 2002, there was a very difficult moment in my life. I was starting a small shop in the market with a bank loan. Suddenly, a bomb exploded in Bali's tourist area! People suffered a lot because most work is dependent on tourism. Bali became so quiet, and no visitors or customers came. I think this was the toughest time in my whole life. My island is rich in artistry, so my family taught me to make sculptures. I started by watching them carving wood at home. I was excited with the final results and worked hard at learning how to create them. By creating these beautifully detailed sculptures and masks, we'd like to introduce our traditional culture to the world. I hope our sales will grow and people worldwide will come to know our culture.'...
