In the 1990s, Danish designer Niels Hvass became a leader in the Nordic design scene by creating furniture that earned him awards and recognitions from Bo Bedre, Georg Jensen and The Design Foundation. He designed his teak Cutter Collection to challenge overly nostalgic wooden outdoor furnishings, bringing elegance and simplicity to outdoor spaces, as well as interior ones. Originally intended for gardens and patios, the Cutter Box (2008) is also fitting for kitchens and bathrooms. This piece features specially engineered mortise-and-tenon joints for durability. Like all teak products, it will develop a rich, silvery patina over time, or it can be treated with teak oil to maintain its original luster. Made in Thailand. Set on four casters, this rolling box fits underneath the Cutter Bench or Stool. Materials: FSC-certified solid teak; stainless steel; casters. Measurements:H 15" W 14" D 14"

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe conceived the Krefeld Collection in 1927 as a complement to his brick and glass design for the Esters and Lange residences in Krefeld, Germany. After a brief career as a watch designer, Naoto Fukasawa moved to the United States to work for the design firm IDEO in 1989. Still learning English, Fukasawa used visuals to communicate with his Silicon Valley coworkers as they designed computers, medical devices, furniture and sporting goods. In 1996 he returned to Japan, where he launched IDEOs Tokyo office, and seven years later he started his own company. Fukasawas approach to design is based on careful observation of peoples actions and feelings. It is in the study of these behaviors that he is able to create products that fit into peoples lives so naturally that they are Without Thought – a concept he now teaches at two universities and to clients worldwide. In designing his Cup Planter (2003), Fukasawa was inspired by the curved shape of ancient wooden bowls to create a cozy atmosphere for plants. The double-walled construction is crafted of UV- and weather-resistant polyethylene that is 100% recyclable. Cup can be drilled in the center from the inside out to allow drainage. Made in Italy. Planterworx was founded by Randy Rollner, who studied at Parsons before beginning his career in architectural metal in 1997. Its all in the details, says Rollner, and the designers on his team are true artisans and craftsmen who bring the precise, balanced lines normally found in modern architecture to these metal Planters (2011). The Planterworx designers insist on using a high percentage of recycled content and recyclable materials. The powder-coated charcoal Planters are finished with an eco-friendly process that contains no V.O.C.s, and the overspray is 100% recoupable. The Corten® Steel Planters are made of the same material designed for bridges and skyscrapers, which has a reactive patina period of three to nine months, depending on location and climate. This patina or rust acts as a protective barrier and does not compromise the structural integrity of the material. After the initial reactive period, Corten Steel will cure and self-seal with very little runoff. Equipped with drainage holes. The Corten Steel Planters do not come pre-weathered. Made in U.S.A. Corten Steel Planters: During the patina period, the carbon runoff will stain adjacent materials like stone and concrete. Design Within Reach Bullet Planter Design Within Reach Bullet Planter

The original Bullet Planters were first manufactured by several different companies in the 1950s, none of which were able to trademark the design, and the designer has never been identified. One version of the story goes that a man in the San Francisco Bay Area worked for a company that made the conical, molded fiberglass shapes as satellite dishes. He brought one home, and when his wife saw it, she got the idea to turn it into a planter. This has, however, never been confirmed. Regardless of its origins, the Bullet today is still made from durable, compression-molded fiberglass, perched atop a tripod of powder-coated steel. Though called a planter, it can also work as an ice bucket or to hold other items. Made in U.S.A. Materials: Molded fiberglass; powder-coated steel. Design Within Reach Wire Planter Design Within Reach Wire Planter

Danish designers Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and Kasper Rønn named their studio Norm to express their dedication to working with Danish norms and standards refined over hundreds of years, says Bjerre-Poulsen, rather than rejecting them in the endless search for new. The sincerity of their approach – bypassing flashy design for good design – shows in the quality of their work, which endures both physically and aesthetically. The duo conceived their Wire Planter (2015) after visiting a Japanese garden where plants were strategically positioned at different heights to create interesting arrangements. Its named for its minimal wire base, which keeps the focus on its contents. Mix and match heights and plants to create your own stunning arrangements. All sizes include a removable plug for drainage, making them suitable for use indoors and out. Made in China. Materials: Powder-coated steel.
