Romano Marcato received his degree in mechanics in 1970. After years of designing precision tools and machines for use in the automobile and electronic industries, he co-founded LaPalma, a company that specializes in the art of adjustability. His Brio Adjustable Dining Table (2005) moves from table to bar height – and anywhere in between – in seconds. Designed to have the fluid mechanics and ease of industrial machinery, it raises and lowers smoothly via a lever-activated gas cylinder. Conveniently located on the underside of the tabletop, the lever releases the table from a firmly locked position, and the locking mechanism ensures superb stability. With its ample tabletop, Brio comfortably accommodates up to four people, providing an intimate perch for a dining or lounge area. The tabletop resists warping and is easy to clean and maintain, and the heavy weighted base eliminates wobbling. Made in Italy.
